Default Electric Fan Noise...Normal?

I swapped my flex-fan for a Derale electric fan from Summit on my '66 and I am amazed at how loud it is. It can be heard quite clearly from outside with the hood closed and inside the car. It's as loud as a blow dryer and was wondering how normal this was. It pulls air through it just fine, but it's very whirrrrrrrrriiinnnnng loud.
Can anyone that owns a Derale comment?

i dont have a derale, but all the elec fans i have put on have made noise like you describe. they are moving a large ammount of air, and that translates into some noise.

A curved blade is a little less loud. I have had lots of people ask if there is a blower on the engine also. Kind of funny

My buddy has a Derale and its louder then my Taurus fan. His moves a good amount of air.
