Default Ok, so I'm restoring a '65 Fastback.

It's really my first time ever doing something like this, and I have no clue on what to buy. I've already got a 351W and a Tremec T-5 put in it, but from there I don't know what to do. Anyone care to help someone in dire need? Lol.

is ur rear end upgraded to a 9in? that woudl be good, or even an 8.8. also you suspension could probably be done, if u get better springs u can turn much better. always do more to the motor fuel injection etc. body work is also good, interior is a good place to go with, since ur obvioulsly not going to a straight restoration, bt rather a restomod, interiors are great place to get into it, new gauges, stereo, custom seat covers anything inside can be done better then stock. frame renforcement is also good, especially with the 351 in there, if u wanted to get really extreme u coul get one of the heidts front suspensions they r good but will raise the engine position, so ull need a new hood. Brakes are good too. any thing you can think of upgrading go for it u can always make somthing better.

Have you driven it yet with the 351 and Tremec? What's wrong?

Start first with safety issues. If your car is driveable, has passed inspection, then start upgrading the brakes to disks and the suspension with new replacement parts before you start adding any go fast add ons. Once you get it mechanically decent and running good with good brakes, then start with the body. Rust issues need to be dealt with at this time. The interior is the last thing you need to worry about, and especially the stereo system. That is the last thing you want to spend your money on.

I concur completely with what Glen says. Engine, brakes and supension are priority, then you can move on to making it look good. No car looks good after it loses control, the brakes fade, or a suspension link fails and wraps itself around a tree!

Ok thanks guys, another thing...the body has been restored completely already, painted too (I bough it from the guy who did it already). But as for the car mechanically, as I said before, the only things that it has in it are the engine and the transmission. So it's most def not running, and to be honest I'd like to know what it is going to take to make it my daily driver, and roughly how much is it going to cost me?

Tell us more about what engine and tranny are in it, and why is it not running. Are parts missing? Give us a complete picture of what is on the engine, and what is not. For instance, does it have a carburetor?

Yeah, and actual pictures would be a good thing too. You know the old saying..."a pictures worth a thousand words".

One last thing, a classic like a 65 Fastback for a daily driver, is like saying Nichole Kidman is just a girl I date. Come on man, this is a '65 Fastback, not a minivan!

You said you have already put in a 351W. I'm confused. Did you hook it up and get it running? If not, then there is a starting place.

Yea, you say you don't what to buy.... but you haven't told us what is missing. You say it isn't running.

Is the 351 a rebuild?
Did you try to start it?
Did it turn over?
Did it have gas in it?
Was there spark?
Is there even a battery in the car?

.......We need some more information other than "it doesn't run" to give you an idea.

What kind of budget do you have, what kind of skills and what you want to do?
