i can't really imaging that you could swap the yoke from integral rearend to the 8" style. But if yes, why not sure. The u-joint might still be tiny but if it held up his old I6, it'll do know as well since the engine is not changed.

I actually meant that maybe my 7.5" axle had been upgraded to a 8" yoke (1310?). Perhaps a result of a hunt for a drive shaft replacement?
But I see what JMD and Kalli are saying about doing the reverse - so BA can continue to use his I6 driveshaft.

I'm going to call a local driveshaft company tomorrow and see if they have the hybrid u-joint. If not my grandfather said I could have 1 of his V8 shafts. Also going to order my u-joint u-bolt kit from Napa.
