Default Tranny swap in the coupe

Im going to be swapping out the C4 for an AOD in the next couple weeks in my dads coupe. What are a list of the parts I am going to need for the swap? Its a '66 coupe with a 289.

Thanks, Cody

Thanks for the help. Now I have a great idea of what it's going to take and it sounds like they've made the swap pretty simple.

Does the driveline need to be shortened?

Is there a kit that is offered for the swap or do I need to piece it together? I looked in the mustangs unlimited magazine and didnt see that they offered one.

The AOD is just a bit longer than the C4 so the driveshaft will need to be shortened. Your C4 yoke may work for the AOD if it's the right spline count. I've heard, read, and seen yokes for sale that are listed to work for the C4 and AOD. But you'll have to shorten the yoke to work for the AOD as it has a longer tail shaft to work with in the C4 I believe. Or if you have a donor car then just be safe and take the yoke from the donor, much less hassel.

CJ sells a limited piece kit for the AOD conversion I think.
