If the chain and sprockets turn out fine, it might be that you just need to tune the carb some. I can't really help you there though since I haven't had a 1bbl on my 200 in almost 1 year and I no longer have the stock distributor.

Are you going into this with the realization that an I6 will always run a little rough?

People smarter than me say its because the fuel has so far to go since its an inline.

You need a puller to get the balancer off, it is pressed on there very tightly.

Yes, I realized last night that I need the puller. I tried for about an hourto get that off... I'll be getting the puller on the way home from work today. Thanks again for the info

The old chain had a ridiculous amount of slack in it compared to the new one, and the timing marks on the gears were almost opposite directions.... when supposed to be pointed towards each other. So, I put the new stuff on and the timing marks facing each other, and now the car starts, but the timing is still funny. When I get it to where it will run decently (turning distrib) the timing light says its like over 30 degrees before tdc. Any ideas.. also its not running that good... stalls and sounds like it has a miss.
