Question T-56 transmission + 427 motor?

Hi all. I'm new to the forums, just registered, first post.

I am resto-modding a '69 fastback and it's time to choose a motor. I already have a T-56 transmission and I am eyeballing a 427 for the motor. I was wondering if anyone has done this. Any known issues with this?

TIA

427 FE or 427 stroked small block? I assume you mean the FE but I thought I would clarify.

Sounds like it is going to be one sweet ride, I'll be watching this build....

I don't foresee any problems. They put T56's behind 500hp 5.4's (GT500), GM LS motors, and Viper V10's. As long as it's built to suit the power requirements, it should be fine.

The only issue is going to be mating it to an FE (or smallblock) bolt pattern. Give Bruce at Modern Driveline a call. I'm sure he'll sort you out in no time

Sounds like a very nice restomod. I'm restomodding my 69 fastback as well, just not going with a big engine. Please post pics when you can.

Nice to see you still around 68EFIVert.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses.

I don't know what 'FE' means, but the motor I'm looking at is a 427w. Does that help any?

I'll definitely post pictures soon.

Yes, that's a 351W-based 427, a smallblock. FE is the designation for a Ford big block family.

All you need is the T56 and correct bellhousing. Modern Driveline has them both. Slapping a TREMEC TKO or T56 behind a SBF is simple and done all the time.

Well, I definitely wouldn't use it as a daily driver, but I would like it to run as such. Why do you ask?
