Default More battery hook up Q's

Okay, here's how it is.

1. The black negative wire is stuck on the battery terminal. It is also already attached to the block.

2. The selenoid was just replaced.

3. the positive wire is attached to the selenoid but not the battery.

So, I guess I was confusing before, here is my question: The only gap in the system right now it from the selenoid to the positive battery terminal. Everything else is hooked up. can i now complete it by simply attaching the positve to the battery? or will it spark and crap?

cause I'm nervous working with batteries now...I had the two touch last week without a selenoid and it went crazy and tired to start and melted stuff. so yeah.

OR should I just take the negitive wire off the block, hook the positive to the battery terminal, then reattach the neg-to-block?

Negative on the battery is always the last thing to get hooked up.

Right. but attching the wire to the block instead of the wire to the battery wont matter?

No, both make for a live connection, either one first is fine. I usually just connect it to the block first.

Okay, I hooked everything back up. BUT it won't start. It's silent. I think I need to charge the battery. The interior light comes on, but when I turn the key it's dead silent. At least before there was a clicking sound.

Anyway, on to the next question. Last week I was replacing the starter selenoid when I accidently let the positve battery cable and the starter cable touch. The cra tried to start but would not. I, ummmm, ran in my house to ask my dad what to do. and it kept trying to start until it slowed down and slowwwwwed down and then finaly stopped trying.

is my battery dead/needs a charge now?

Yeah that sounds like a dying battery to me. Do you have a multimeter that you could check the battery voltage with? Should be at or slightly above 12 volts.

If not, you can take it to a place like Schucks and they can test it for you. I do that every time before I go buy a new one.

Nope, no multimeter. I had a battery charger last winter when I thought that the battery needed it. But it didn't so I returned it. I'll take it into my local shucks then.

Dang, cause if you hooked it up to the battery charger you could 1) see if the battery will take a charge and 2) charge the battery. Good investment.

By the way, what part of Washington are you in? Are you going to the Mustang Roundup?
