Just because it's "official" does not mean it is correct
I was having a terrible time getting my gas and temp gauges to work when I reasembled my instrument cluster. On the internet I found a wiring diagram about which this is said:
Though these have been reproduced for years in various books, Ford published them first -- and included them in their annually-updated Ford Motor Company Service Training Courses 13001.1: Wiring Diagrams, and 1760: Vacuum Diagrams -- oversized 11" x 17" companion references to the filmstrip and LP record included as part of Ford's self-paced training.
Now, I did find my problem by using this diagram and my gauges now work. However, I noticed this "official" diagram has a glaring error. It reverses two lights, one is a dash light and the other is the high beam indicator. If you followed this your high beam indicator would be on anytime your lights are, and when you hit your high beams, the left side of your instrument panel would light up.
The red text and lines are mine.

nice. nevewr used that diagram. i just rest the cluster against ground with all lamps pulled. flick on the high beam and blinker so i know which lamps they are and then shove em into correct place. same with generator and oil pressure idiot lights. i couldn't work with such a spaghetti diagram without getting insane
