WELL my 69 351 is having a hard time gettin anywhere..i just bought it and the guy i got it from said it hesitated when cold.when i test drove it this was the case and it stalled once but hesitated when i gassed it from start or roling starts...well i cleaned the k&n filter with k&n cleanin kit,changed gas filter,and had to replace the excelarater cable cause it broke..well now the car stalls at take off .its really hard to get going wityhout stalling,once it gets going if i dont slow down or stop it drive soso but its a bitch to get going without stalling.seems like i made it worse rather than better. sigh..any ideas where to start to get this running properly.? it has an after market manifold and holley carb i believe it this matters..ty all

Three points to check.....

1. Fuel
2. Ignition
3. Compression

Make sure your carb is getting plenty of fuel. Dial in the carb so it is at its' maximum performance level. Get a manual for your carb and dial it in.
Check your timing
Take a compression test.

You will find your problem by following these steps.

i have a holley carb now where do i look to c which one i have or is there only 1 that fits my 351>? ive narrowed it down to timing or most likely carb..

Take air cleaner off and check to see if carb is giving the correct gas from the fuel excelerator pump. Look down into carb & push throttle linkage slowly to wide open throttle. There should be a mist of fuel spraying into carb, if fuel is pouring into to the carb in droplets or dumping fuel into it, the fuel excelerator pump on carb is bad. This dumping of fuel will make car stall and run poorly. Also leave air cleaner off for a test run sometimes by cleaninjg K&N filter you put to much oil back on filter and this makes your air filter not work right. I used to clean K&N but now I just replace with new.
