GT500 clone update!
It looks like i'm going to catch and overtake my dad (fakesnakes)!!! over the past couple weeks i've brought my mustang to the body shop where it will have its body work done and be painted. I brought it to a place in CT. called Metal Morphous. Metal Morphous specializes in the restoration and body work of classic cars. We have had our GT40 painted there and our FFR daytona coupe repaired after our accident. I will be doing most of the body work myself under supervision by an expert and learning along the way. So far the car is completely stripped of the black primer that comes on the dinacorn panels just to make sure there are no imperfections in the painting process. It took my three days by myself to completely sand the panels down but i had just finished today. As you see the fiberglass I got from Mustangs Unlimited didn't seem to fit at all to the fenders so it took a lot of modifications to the fiberglass pieces. Where I had the fenders ligned up the nose panel was an inch shorter than it was supposed to be so I unfortunatly had to end up cutting the Shelby letter panel in half a re-glass it back togather once I found how much more I needed to add. It was a little floppy after that so for some additional stretgh I glassed in a strip of metal. The body work starts tomarrow and everything is going to need to be nice and smooth. I had originally decided to go with the lime gold metallic and white stripes but i decided to go with a more "exciting" color so i have a nice red with silver stripes picked out. I'll keep you posted on how it goes...

This is the color I like so far andam thinking about going with but the one you see here is shown on a cobra roadster's hood.

haha gotta love the father/son competition
the car looks good so far, those panels fit nicely now. I say go with something other than red, especially if you dad is getting that on one of his cars haha. There's just too many red cars out there, just my opinion though. it'll still look great I just think something different should be in order for that beauty.

i always find cars in primer and fiberglass look ugly, can't wait to see it painted.
The color will be nice, but you really sure you want to go with that if you father has same color car in garage? or is it from a sold car?
I like the color combination, but always found that those 68 shelbys have to be dark green. no idea why
Congratulations on your progress anyway, i'd be very excited

Everything looks like its going great for you. I'm surprised you had to add a metal bar though. The fiberglass resin with some mat should have added plenty of support. I added quite a bit inside the lower front valance to help stiffen it up as it was originally very flimsy. So much so I couldn't pick it up for fear of it breaking. With some resin and mat added I can lift and shake it around without worrying.
I'm with kalli here and the Dark Green but well thats me.
The choice of Red will certainly get it more attention as nothing says 'come look at me' like red does.
Can't wait to see it after body work and paint. What suspension, engine and drivetrain have you selected?
