Default purchasing gears

I checked out ebay and there's a lot of 3.50 gears for 9'' rear. Would brand make a difference? new/used? material?

Dont get pro gears unless you have a drag car that launches quite hard, like a 1.2 sixty foot time. They are softer and give more so they wear out quicker. Lightweight doesnt mean its good for the street, daily and street driving is pretty hard work for drivetrain and suspension parts, limited use allows race stuff to be lighter.

Used gears are a gamble, if they have a screwed up wear pattern on them they will howl no matter what you do setting them up. I've heard some that sounded like a firetruck going down the road. You dont know the condition until they are there in hand or actually installed. Its up to you, new gears are usually around $120-$200.

Summit gears are good. I have a set of them and have had no issue yet...The price is very good too.

I completely agree with Thumpin.

I have a set of Motive 3.25's and they've been good to me. Like I said before, I'd recommend at least 3.73's with your 5sp. First gear will still be usable if you stick with a 2.95 first, and you'll still be able to cruise around at low rpm's in 5th (unless you go with the TKO-600RR).
