Ok...I called Comp to get some light on the subject. Officially, Comp says use hot lash settings on the card regardless of your block or head type. For adjusting with cold lash settings, they recommend .004 tighter for iron/iron and .006 tighter for iron/aluminum to allow for expansion. This contradicts what their website says, but follows what Crane says, so I am still confused, but it is Friday. My buddy says the hot lash will be tighter than the cold lash, but not by much with high quality parts. On Saturday I will check it out myself and will set the thing hot just to be safe.

*cough* .010 on intake .012 on exhaust *cough*

also, steel rockers are actually lighter on the tips than the aluminum ones which is always a good thing. that being said, i have crane energizer 1.6 rockers on my motor which are aluminum and with a .500 lift hyd cam using 120 lbs of seat pressure they'll last the life of the motor just fine because they aren't getting hammered so bad.

hah. since they agree i'd do exactly that for iron/alu combination.
what they're saying on the website is exactly was I was thought. But that was pre-alu heads on my opels and stuff. it seems to be different when alu heads come into play. maybe the head expands more then the valve and that causes it to go tighter

Well after a heat cycle, I warmed it up today and set the lash hot. It was about .024 .022 hot before I reset the lash which is .006 more than I set it originally cold. This could be because things broke in a little after a heat cycle but it appears the lash gets looser or more when things get heated up.

Regardless, I set the lash at .016 .018 and it sounds great. Now I just have to do a test drive and burn off the oil that entered the exhaust pipe when things started failing. Hopefully these rockers will hold up .
