Wheels and Ride Height

Ride height in front.
American Racing Torque Thrust 15x7, BFG 225x60 front-235x60 rear, 620lb 1" drop coils in front ( I either got the wrong springs sent to me or the higher ride height is due to torquing the lower a-arms before the engine was in and the car off the ground with no weight on the front end???)-5 leaf mideye leaf springs in back. I am having issues with the rear tires rubbing on the inside fender well lips. Any ideas on this problem guys?

hey guys, i posted a thread about spacers and stuff but then realized i should've just put it on this sticky. im looking for new wheels for my 67...i wanna go with a 26" drag radial so my 3.70s wont be so tough on the high way...is it possible to run that on a stang without rolling the fenders? if not, whats the widest (275?) and tallest wheel (60?) i can run without any modifications. and how wide should the rim be (17x9?)? thanks for the help!

thanks for the info! i decided on magnum 500s, 15x8. im going to run a 255/60 tire with 4.5" backspacing and standard ride height in back. I spoke with specialty wheels in Oregon and they said the original 5" backspacing is only necessary if i wanted to lower the car, but with stock ride height 4.5" will work just fine.

I've read through all the threads but I still dont have a very good understanding of suspension and what size wheels/ride height I should have. I've got a 68 coupe with 15 x 7 Radial TAs and American Racing wheels. When I bought it, it had 14 x 7 tires but they looked too small so I got 15 x7 ones. Ever since, I've had lots of problems with both the front and rear. On the front, if I turn too sharp either way, my tires will rub against the inner metal lip/border on the wheel wells and if I hit the metal hard enough, it will dig into the tires - I've got huge gouges from the tires hitting the rim on the wheel wells. As far as the rear, I'm not quite sure what the deal is. I know my leaf springs are shot - they are the original ones and are basically useless - I just dont have enough money at the moment to replace them. Every time I hit a huge bump, I'll bottom out, but I dont know if the sound I hear is the rear tires hitting the top of the wheel wells, or the muffler/rear axle/etc hitting the road - I havent seen any large dents or scratches on the muffler, so I'm guessing its the tires.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Basically I'm wondering what type of leaf springs I should get, if I need to use smaller tires, and if I need to have my car raised an inch or so. I know the previous owner lowered it 1 to 2 inches. Shocks are new. Also, what is the benefit of lowering your car, other than the lower center of gravity thing and slightly more aerodynamic--is it bc of having rear wheel drive? I think cars look "meaner" if they are raised rather than lowered...
