simple gas cap question

Default simple gas cap question

ok so i got an easy question if anyone can help me lol... i just got a new gas cap for my 65 coupe.. it came with a retaining ring so it can hang when i take of the cap it can hang.. my question is i didnt have this set up before just the cap.. so where does the ring hold too? currently with the cap off i just have what is in the picture below.. am i missing something or does the it screw into one of the holes from the picture

It screws into the hole that is not slotted

sorry again for sounding dumb.. but which hole.. all the holes on the filler tube are filled with a screw going into the body of the car holding it in place? is that wrong? do i take one off and use that hole?

Ya the bottom right screw should be the one you want to take out and just use that hole.
