Default gap size?

installed the mallory ignition box (hyfire vi 6al) with no problems (thanks kalli). mallory doesnt mention increasing the gap size but ive heard that a increase is recommended. i'm using simple copper core Autolite 45's that have a gap of .035. i'll tinker with em in the mean time but would something more like .045 be better and give a better burn now that i have a bigger spark?

I have mine gapped at like .052 I think? I'd gap it to at least .045, it'll let you ignite leaner mixtures better. That's on a n/a engine though with typical street range compression. When you run higher compression and/or boost you need smaller gaps. Some newer cars are running gaps of .060 from the factory.
