Stalling my automatic
I have a '66 Mustang with a 2barrel 289 automatic. In park i have no trouble revving the engine. However, when put in drive and if i press the throttle and quickly let off my car stalls. There are no gasket leaks, however, im blowing smoke out of the breather meaning my rings aren't in great shape. Does this have anything to do with stalling or is it something else? This gives me a lot of trouble in an emergency situation.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Take a look at the driver's side of your carb. There should be a round canister just under the throttle. See yellow arrow in picture. Do you have this? This is used to ease the throttle down. If you don't have this or if it isn't adjusted right, the carb will shut too quickly causing the car to die. The adjustment is easy. There should be 2 nuts on the screw side. Loosen these and screw the canister out toward the throttle.
What is that canister called?
My Carb doesn't have that canister. It is stock and i don't believe anyone messed with it. Did it come originally from factory?
The mustang dies whether it's cold or warm it doesn't make a difference
