ok yea it would be just a 98-01 cobra engine, wish i could afford a termi motor.....but i have no idea how dependable a 347 is, i hear that they are great and then i hear that they are crap.....honestly i want a fuel injected engine that puts out 350+hp......i dont like prochargers and am not lookin for a turbo setup....mainly just a naturaly asperated engine for now......any thoughts? the 347 i was lookin at produced 420hp...that to me is perfect! what would a 351w do?

A 347 will make more power and torque than a stock stroke 351W. A lot of the talk you hear about crap 347's is probably from people that only had experience with the early style pistons. Their oil control rings intersected the pin bores which would cause oil to leak by unless you used piston pin buttons to close up the gap. The newer style pistons have a corrected design that places the ring land higher on the piston and above the pin bore.

boring it out wont help much for hp by itself. a 302 will make the same power as a 306. When you stroke it out (302 to 331 or 302 to 347) you will get more torque from the longer stroke (assuming you know how the bore and stroke work? if not just ask).
So with that being said, the engine was meant to run at stock stroke and is thus the most reliable. a 347 has more stress on the connecting rods because of the longer stroke and as a long term daily driver it might fatigue quicker than a 302. Not to say it will, but it is definetely more stressed than the 302. For a daily driver most would choose a 331 because their investment will last longer, giving it less stress and more torque than a 302. For a weekend warrior there really is nothing wrong with a 347 it just seems a little much for a daily to me but im sure others will have different opinions, yay or nay.

the 351 i believe was fords way of stroking out the 302. Im not sure how the bore compares on the 2 but the stroke is much more. the 351 is also a much beefier, stronger, and more reliable engine (from what i have read). I am currently debating on stroking a 351 or not for a "6 month of the year daily driver"

im also bored and rambling

the 4.6 will be more reliable than the 347 because it is stock, fuel injected, etc. but as I was saying earlier, the amount of work to put it in is not worth it when you can get a 331 or 351W fuel injected and bolt it in.

well these engines are currently in vehicles, the cobra is in a cobra naturally and the 347 is in a fox body....so id have all the things necessary to make the engine run and so forth, from what i understand putting in a modular motor requires some engine mounts, i do not see how this would be difficult but in all honesty i have no clue what it is like.....if anyone is doing this please give me your input! can i get a 351w to put out 400hp with-out forced induction or nos, or stroking it, just bolt ons is what i mean...im not lookin for a 4k engine

400 hp you can make with bolt ons yes. im pretty sure you can make 400 from a 302 with bolt ons, some ones else would have to chime in to confirm or deny though.

There is more to putting a mod motor in than just motor mounts, you need a whole new $3k front end bolted in to eliminate the shock towers because the mod motors are huge. I didnt save it but there is a hand drawn picture floating around somewhere illustrating just how much bigger the mod motor is than the small blocks.

Take a browse around http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/mod-custom-forum/

i stumbled across this, you might as well read it even though you are going 302, atleast this way you can get rid of the curiosity

http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/mo...7-mustang.html

the t5 is a very common swap, one of which i am not too familiar with. I believe the main obstacle is converting from the "z bar" mechanical linkage over to a cable clutch which the t5s are equipped with. mustang steve (http://www.mustangsteve.com) has a very nice kit to do this swap. if you do a search through the search function on t5 swap you will be reading into next week. lots of people have done it and there is lots of how-to write ups. check the link on the 4.6 for the pictures though, it was shocking (no shock tower puns intended) to see the size of the 4.6

youll drive the 302 and wish you just would of went ahead and stroked it. I just ripped out my 5.0 with about 3,000 miles to put in a new stroker.

Just my opinion
