E break not working ?

Default E break not working ?

Hey my E brake does not really work any more in my 65 does anyone know what could solve this? Ive heard doing a rear break job and possibly tightening the E brake. I wouldnt be doing it my machanic would, I was just wondering ?

Actually it might not be the brakes at all.... On my 67 for instance, I had terrible e brake function, it would barely grab, and I could never figure it out as I had just installed new brakes....I was under the car welding up a custom exhaust when I noticed that the mounting tab on the bottom of the car had simply broken off, giving the brake cable nothing to pull against....check it out, you might be suprised....

you might also check the pulley wheel underneath your dash, as the ebrake cable rides on this wheel and often derails and becomes stuck between the wheel and the bracket.

Numerous thing come to mind, the pulley as mentioned,loose cable underneath,bad/mis adjusted brakes,loose cable,broken cable,loose actuator bar
My first bet would be to tighten the cable underneath, then adjust/change the rear brakes.
