Default 200ci starter questions

When I get back home tonight I'm gonna start calling around for quotes. Any brand that's good or bad? can I get original style ford for about the same price? how to I take my old one out and install the new one. whats the insulator wire going from it to the firewall?

thanks in advance

Should only be 2 bolts to undo to take it off. 1 on the bottom and 1 on top near the block, a wire on one of the bolts, and then the wire on the side of the starter. To put on the new one just put the wire on the bolt and tighten it back down and then just reconnect the one of the side.

I know you probably know this already, but make sure to undo one of the cables on the battery before you start.

I've taken it off about 2 times now. Once for clutch and once for T5 swap.

Okay, so i got both the bolts off on the passenger side. The one od the drivers side circled in green, I cannot get off. Not sure if it's a clearance issure or a tightness issue.

I had to use a wrench for that one.

If you have a stock header, it's dead easy. If you have an aftermarket header, You might have to take it off first.
