paint gun question
If you are just doing one car a cheap gun will work, and they work ok for primers. I went with a cheap one and getting it to flow so I could minimize orange peel and not have runs and sags was difficult, it was a poor design. It was a 3 pack, the small one never did work, it fell apart, the primer gun worked ok, and the small tip color gun started to drip after I shot the base and one coat of clear on the Cougar. They worked but the time spent fixing the stuff they did and cleaning them meant I wasnt going to keep using them.
Then I spent almost $300 for a Devilbiss gun with tips for thick and thin and that thing is worlds better. It takes less time to clean it, it doesnt leak and drip on the paint, its a very simple and effective design. Overspray and orange peel were cut down so much I didnt find any on my drag car when I shot it. If you plan to paint a few like I am, a quality gun will last longer and produce better results easier. A cheap one will still work, and you can get a good paint job from it, but you get what you pay for.

I just got in from sandblasting on the Goat, utterly wasted my knees today working too hard, so please forgive me if I wait till tomorrow to check which one it is. I was going to look while I was out there but air compressor problems distracted me, I need to replace or rebuild the pump. Fun day.
I would have to take that one apart and see how well it shoots, Eastwood is pricey on most stuff though. Not familiar with EW, but then again I have only painted 5 vehicles and the difference between the cheap gun and the good one was night and day. EW might be good, see what a google search says about them.

DEKUPS is a huge waste
we bought into a commercial set up at work and used it 2 times before we came to a general decision to go back to the basics.
If you spray all day every day, it'll be worth adjusting to and using,
but for just 3 cars, dont waste your time.

also be careful with a used sata,
somethin about them makes them clog prone, and first instinct for most is to use a welding tip style cleaner, which ovals out the once precise holes needed to atomize paint well...
thats what happened to the company sata anyway.
