I've read up on how to do the work around on the pink wire. If memory serves you eliminate the current coil wire and run a new one from the coil to the accessory post on the ignition. It doesn't sound that difficult so if I have to end up doing it that's what I'll do but I've known other folks that didn't have to do it so we will see. My wires were old with all kinds of crazy splices in them, etc so it is not so much a mystery to me I was lacking volts.

My immediate plan is to stick the points back in temporarily, get all the new wires put in and try to start it up. If it starts, then I will tackle reinstalling the Pertronix.

I like the alternator idea for the choke wires. I have the stock style so that should work.

I was looking at a few things this evening and I have a theory.

I don't see a ground strap coming from the firewall to the back of the motor.

I am wondering if the bone head that used to own my car set up this relay deal not only to feed the choke but also as some sort of elaborate ground to replace the strap? Would seem like it'd be a lot easier to wire the choke elsewhere and buy a strap but maybe it's just me.

Not sure exactly where the ground strap goes but I looked all over and didn't see one....

I wired my choke to the same wire that the coil is wired to, if I remember correctly.
