I doubt it will just "drop in". You will need an AOD trans mount, a TV cable, and maybe a correct length drive shaft.
As for how good a tranny it is...I do not care much for them. They are clunky shifting in and out of OD, but do shift pretty good from 1-2 and 2-3. They are about the best option if you just have to have an auto with OD. Keep in mind that horsepower does not kill driveline parts...torque kills driveline parts. I personally like the c4 & c6. Racers run c4s and c6s with hundreds of foot*lbs with a little beefing up. I would be shocked if a stock AOD handled much more than 350ft*lbs of torque for very long.
