No place for castlenut

Default No place for castlenut

I ordered a new LH strut rod for my 68 from CJ's, the new rod came & it has no step down threads for the castle nut on the end. I only needed it because the end of my original was damaged. I even ordered a new castle nut, no where to put it. Is this important?
