Im a newb so help me out...

why was i smart by putting a 345 hourse 302 into my 64.5 vs putting a 289 in it?

i know a few of the answers but thought this would be a good post to read.

you wasn't smart. Frankly, i like my engines to be orignal. YOu can build a 289 to get more HP out of it, then a 302. Just my .02

 

im sorry i sounded so mean there, but, if you like all the power and dont care about originality, then you made a good choice. I like 289's because the cranks. They have shorter strokes, which is better. Then you can bore out a 289 to a 302, because a 302 is a 289 block.

 

the 289 has a 4" bore same as the 302 but it only has a 2.87" stroke the 302 has the 3" stroke so think of it as a stroker 289 if you like anything for power the 289 had little better casting than 302

 

i dont care anything about originality, all all about being original by being different.
