Default Picked up a new 66 coupe

Road tripped down to New Mexico to get a C code 66 Coupe with an aqua 2 tone pony. Pretty solid car but needs plenty of work. Gave $2400 for it. No rust in the foors, no hood, will need some quarter patches. Got excited when I found out it was an original 3 speed car with a 4 speed installed. Had a nice running 302 from a 78 ltd. The floor had been cut to make the shifter work so I figured it had one of those crappy SROD transmissions. I got excited when I jacked it up and found it had a toploader style trans, until I ran the numbers on the tag. RUG BP, it is basically a 3 speed with an overdrive. That sucks.

It is missing the original door tag but it was a 2V 289 with a 3 speed, White with the 2 tone pony. With no door tag I will never know the build date or the DSO which sucks too.

Thanks! I missed out on 2 fastbacks in the last week. One was a 65 GT fastback 4 speed black/black for $6500. I really wanted that one. I guess I bought the coupe because I was feeling like I need to buy somthing.

That's a good looking start. I have been looking at another 65 Cope in NM as well for just over 3 months now that is also in great shape. May try to pick it up this summer. Looking forward to your progress.
