Default '68 Shelby Update

I have'nt been on the forum much recently because I haven't really gotten much work done! I did take off my other wheels and purchased some nice 68 Shelby 17x8 10 spokes. I recently took out my engine because I wanted to upgrade a little. I am still not sure whether I want to rebuild my 302 or buy a crate motor.

Yes, it definitely is a great looking car. If this is a real Shelby and has the original engine, it would be a SHAME to replace it with a crate motor.

I really enjoy building engines, so buying a crate motor is agains my religion.

Sense you put the GT500 on it; you need to man up, toss the small block and find a 428 and a shoehorn.

Whats your price range on your motor? That should give you an idea as to go crate motor or rebuild to get your money's worth.

I was just thinking the other day about what the status of your car was. The new wheels look great.

For a crate motor price range i'm thinking between $3,000-$5,500 for a hp 302. I was looking at some of the 351 crate motors, but they were slightly more expensive ($6,000-$7,000 range.) My car basically is a stock 302 though, The C4 (has shift kit installed), driveshaft, and rear end (planning on upgrading sometime in the near future) are stock. I will change out the torque converter if i get a bigger engine though. Can the stock driveshaft handle a bigger engine?

well if you want to upgrade the rear end in the future, I'd do that before building the engine, otherwise you'll blow one after another. I'd say put it together with what you have and drive the thing while you save money for upgrades

on that note. those tyres and wheels look very bad. Send them over sure and see if they work on mine ;-)

no but could you do me a massive favour to note the wheel and tyresizes and take another picture of wheel with tyre from the side?
I want to photoshop them in to see what they'd look like in mine

I'm definetly going for those V50 at some stage, but still unsure if 15, 16 or 17"
