Default Nickel Plated Tri-Y Headers

Anybody know what I should use to clean/maintain/protect these for longevity and for detailing purposes? I understand that they are supposed to turn a blueish color.

Thanks

They will blue from the heat, probably a couple of inches, maybe more. Not sure what you should use to keep them clean, I have painted ones that need re-coated too, just don't feel like taking them off to do it. Are they on the car already??? Maybe you could find a clear coat that with stands those temps, and then you could use almost anything then. Sorry, but at leastyou're back to the top.

Thanks, yes they are brand new on the car. Didn't know if I should to put something on them to clean and protect them so they don't discolor anymore or pit over time. I dunno, maybe just leave them alone?

I'm thinking you are safe as long as you don't run thru something like paint or something that stains them. You could always wash them with mild soap and water, let them dry good before you get them hot, and they should stay clean enough.
