Default Bulletproof Cooling Recommendations

I've just ordered my 347 stroker crate engine. Now I'm looking for a bulletproof radiator/fan combo that will keep this thing cool (with the air conditioning on in 100+ degree weather). Does anybody out there have any recommendations?

I may try to add a supercharger in couple of years so I would prefer to be on the overkill side of the equation.

Thanks!

I'm running a Fluidyne direct fit aluminum radiator with a reverse rotation Flexalite fan and the better composite/plastic shroud. I run AC and it stays nice and cool. The radiator is for a 5.0 swap. I have aluminum heads and cam etc, but mines not a stroker motor.

Here is the one I have.

They also have these similar ones.

Here is the shroud I have. I guess its made of fiberglass.

I'll try to get the part number for the fan I have. I think I used a 1 3/4 inch fan spacer.

I have a 24 X 19 Griffin radiator with a 95 Taurus 3.8L fan. It cools extremely well - never gets above about 195, even in the hottest weather in creeping Branson, MO traffic. It's cheap too - $200 for the radiator and $35 for the fan (and $95 for a new fan motor after the junkyard motor died).

I run the larger Griffin fan with a big block size radiator shroud and 19" flex fan. I also remounted my A/C consendor coil so that air could flow straight thru instead of at an angle like the factory mounting had it. That along with a 190* high flow thermostat lets my 383W run with A/C blasting in traffic in south Texas (100* in the summer) without getting over 205*.

Whatever you get, make sure the radiator has a tight fin packing. I have an brass/copper in mine, but it's an old GDI core that they stopped making.

my 0.02 - consider an electric water pump in combo with a good alum radiator and spal (or similar) thermo fan.

as long as you have good wiring you're set.

we use this set up in race cars. last november we had 2 full days of 100* plus during a tarmac rally. no issue during the stages and we have the fan and pump switched independently of the ignition so when we stop the car we can keep cooling things down.

boy i like that 3 row with 1" tubes, but i also like the griffin 2 row with 1 1/4 tubes.....i'd love to get that 3 row in a 24" .haven't seen one of those yet.i also heard someone somewhere say that anything bigger that a 2 row in alum doesn't cool as good ?? i wonder if you can order a 3 row 24" from M-unlimited..

Thanks for the input gents. This certainly gives me a few ideas. Ozarks06, is your Griffin radiator set up with staggered inlet/outlet ports? If so, did you swap out the water pump or did you find a way to stretch the hose across the engine bay?

My buddy has a stock 3 core radiator with a Spal 16" fan it cools his 347 to about 185-190 on a 90+* day.Usually it runs at about 175-180*

I went with a 28X19 Nothern,Taurus fan and Meizere 55GPM pump.

My Griffin is a generic radiator from Summit. It has staggered inlet/outlets since that's what my mod motor takes. They make them both ways. I cut out the radiator support a little to get more air to the radiator and mounted it in Summit's generic cradle mounts. My car is a 65.
