Default mexican 302 with power

I picked up a 302 from a 78 f100 "explorer" I tore it down and everything looks good aside from coolant leaks from freeze plugs and some radiator stop leak

So I want to put it back together with an intake headers and a cam.

I know nothing about cams, and someone told me if i get a cam i need a torque converter with a stall on it, and someone else told me i didnt, all i want out of the cam is a noticeable difference throughout the power band and noticeable at idle, so what should i be looking for?

I was looking at air gap intakes, are these worth it or should a regular intake from eldebrock be fine?

I got a lunati camshaft that came with lifters, and a 50K volt HEI Distributor all for under 200

If that is all you are going to do, run the Comp Cams 268H. It has a 110 center and will give you a lope at idle yet will work great with only a manifold and cam. Works better with an exhaust but....... You won't need a converter with that cam.

268 BARE BONES CAMSHAFT #11201

I also bought a 50K VOLT HEI DISTRIBUTOR as the motor I got didn't come with one, I'm looking for an intake and headers to get along with either a 650 cfm or 750 cfm, haven't decided yet.

after I got the engine in the car I'll worry about the exhaust but I'm thinking either H pipe or X pipe

This might help you determine what carb by using this carb chart.
