Are you sure that the head gaskets are on correctly. You can easily check this by looking at the front, outer corners of each cylinder head. If the gaskets are on correctly, there will be a square corner of the head gasket sticking out beyond the rounded corner of the head.

Glad I went to the 2nd page of this post before replying... This was my next thought... One more thing to check- hoses. The lower rad hose in paricular. Did you replace them? Do you have an anti-collapse spring in there? Maybe the new block's coolant passages and the water pump flow much better and are causing the hose to collapse, even at idle.

BTW- I am from Clovis originally and will be coming down there in July to visit my parents for a few weeks... Still undecided if I'm going to bring the Stang or not.

I checked that it and they arent collapsing however thats something i need to invest into shortly.

Can you confirm from the shop if they reset the mixtures? If it is lean, it wont be helping and could be a significant cause. You could try pulling a plug and having a look at its condition. Take a pic and post it.
i wont be able to confirm it from the shop, it was over a year ago. so my other option u mentioned was take a pic of the spark plug and ill send u a pic of it asap.
i put a 18 psi cap on now, i read on here that a higher psi cap will make it run slightly cooler

is there a way to tell which water pump i have. i doubt it as simple as an arrow pointing one way or the other???

post pics of the plugs and the water pump. I wont be able to tell from a pic but someone on here probably will.

Rule out the pump first then get the beast tuned again.
Did you check the head gaskets like Doc said?

i dont have the dimensions for a '69 - someone will post.

However you want the widest/ tallest radiator that your radiator support panel will allow. you'll get diminishing returns from adding rows but max effect adding frontal surface area.

I think thats the wrong radiator in the car. There should be no gaps between the hold in the support panel and the fins.

Yeah, looks too small and kinda old... You can get a decent new one for about 130 at the zone...
