So the mild build of the 302 has begun with a dist. and cam, I've never done a cam before so what do I need to do? I read about cam bearings, and I have a friend who can do it for me.

Questions are what do I do with the timing before I take the chain off, also does that need to be replaced. and the cam I got is a lunati bare bones 268, do I need to change the lifters rockers and springs or can I get away with it for now?

Next is the dist seemed to sit about 1/4 of an inch above where it should sit,it also didn't seem to mesh with the cam gear, is this because of the stock cam? did i not put it all the way in? or is the gear too tall?

probably dont have the oil pump shaft lined up remove the dizzy and turn it a llittle

id replace the timing chain while you have it apart..put the motor at top dead center then remove it

you always want new lifters with a new cam...the springs are a should replace but you can reuse them as long as they will handle the lift of the cam but if they are soft they might let the valves float(not a good thing)
