Finally T5 success!!!
Took out the old T5 and put in the newer beefier T5 and it shifts... well like a 5 speed should.
It has the 2.95 first gear and a .63 5th. All is good.
Checked the pressure plate and that was good, but the fulcrum was cracked at the bend so I welded that back up and it's good as new.
Still have a slight vibration and no I didn't run the engine without the tranny since I was tired and lazy, but I do know it feels a bit better after adjusting the timing.
So after I clean up the garage I'll dive into the other T5 and see what's going on inside.

The difference between the T5 with the 1st and 2nd grind is like night and day. No more grinding downshifts to second from 3rd either.
I have the Ron Morris crossmember coming. I had modified my stock crossmember, but figured I buy one since CJ's Pony Parts was having a 10% off sale this past weekend. That will tidy things up.
I may go with a cable clutch setup since I have the cable and firewall adjuster, but haven't decided which quadrant makes the most sense.
I really don't want to pay $60 for Steve's. It's just a hunk of steel. I am funny that way. I would much rather buy a plasma cutter and make my own. LOL
