Default Fuel - Carb stall out issue??

Took the coupe out to strech the shoes out and she stalled out on me.

Crusin all fine and then started to sputter a bit, enough to start getting toward the side of the road and then she stalled out on me. Almost sounded like I was out of fuel but still had over a qrt tank in her. Didnt see anything under hound and after waiting a bit she turned over. I was able to limp home after one more stall out.

Question is what could it be? Havent replaced fuel filter in awhile should I start there? Anything to check on carb?

thanks.

What speed were you travelling at when it stalled (just starting from a stop, cruising at 45 mph, etc.)? Did it stall when you tried to accelerate briskly? There are two potential places to look fuel delivery to the carb and the carb itself. The answers to the above questions could help narrow it down some.

I was cruising around 40-45 mhp at least when I first felt it, limbing home I tried to keep her moving at about the same pace....she gave out then, not at the lights from a dead stop....

Has it been sitting a while? Could have crap in the filter.

still the most likely issue though. check fuel filter. easy if you have a see through one. as well check for fuel pressure at carb

Yep, a piece(s) of crud partially blocking the fuel filter would be the simplest cause of the problem described. The engine gets starved for fuel at speed.

Hopefully that took care of it.

Does it have an older gas tank? Maybe there is rust and crap inside it. Its often overlooked and can cause all kinds of grief.
