Default Shock Towers

So I need to replace both shock towers on my 67 coupe. Apparently someone at some point of time decided to torch both shock towers on both sides in order to get to the grease fittings.

So my questions is approximately how much in labor would this cost? I have already priced the parts.

Thanks!

I've seen circular holes blown in for access but what the hell is that abortion? If the shock towers are otherwise intact if could be cheaper to just have the holes repaired. You can just grind the welds smooth, use a little body filler to hide the work before painting the engine compartment. Also, you might look into the shock tower reinforcement plates that came on big block cars. they should cover over the holes and make things much stronger.

I was thinking about the reinforcement plates but the backside is torched out just as bad as well. Somebody really did a number on these shock towers! Im sure there are many mustang owners who have replaced there shock towers. I do not plan on doing the work myself, my plan is on taking it to a body shop. However I really would like to know what others have paid or approximately for something like this to be done minus the parts just the labor

If the towers are fine other wise, I would just use those shock tower braces as they are like what the CJ and Boss cars have.

If you going to do a restoration and plan to show it in stock restored class then replacing them may be the better option. But probably only if they are too far gone to be repaired. For a weekend cruiser with occasional show duty...then as long as their overall integrity is good I think you will be way ahead dollar wise by repairing them. Those holes can be opened up to an easily repairable shape and then a patch welded in. Call around to see about the shock tower replace/repair pricing. My guess is that a corner shop is not going to even want to quote on replacement since they don't do that kind of work typically. That means going to a restoration shop. If you plan on showing it as stock then you'll want a resto shop to do the replacement IMO since they will replicate the factory welding you need to be competitive in a stock restored class. Just google for shock tower replacemet and you'll find some articles on the job that might even include some job estimates.
