Default 67 conversion

Ok I know this is a beatin horse. But I keep getting thrown around on it. I have a I6 67 coupe. I have up graded the front springs and shocks already. Now this is where I keep getting thrown back and forth on. Do I need to change the front sway bar or any of the steering linkage or the steering box. If this helps I have a 302 out of a 72 Cougar and a FMX tranny. I have a 8" rearend and am working on getting the front converted to disc 5 lug. Also I have heard that the fuel line going into the engine will need to be replaced and the wiring harness.

I am open to anyones knowledge but would really like someone that has actually done this on a 67 Coupe before. Because like I said alot of guys that have years all around the 67 say that none of the stuff is compatable and others say other wise. Thanks for the input.

I did the engine conversion on my 67 and did not change the sway bar, steering linkage, or steering box. I have been thinking of upgrading the sway bar to a thicker bar, but I really don't drive/corner hard enough to put that at the top of my list. If I remember correctly, mine is 5/8".

Being a 67 they only made one spindle that year so you can just get new hubs and run the oem disc.

Just some other thoughts:

I don't remember that the fuel lines needed upsizing when converting from 6 to 8. I ended up replacing mine at the same time just because the old lines were in really bad shape. Maybe someone else can chime in.

What engine wiring harness are you referring to?

Also Im having a delima, I keep reading that they dont make the 67 motor mounts or frame mounts. I found that Auto zone had the mountor mounts but since im going from a i6 to v8 Im havin a time finding the frame mounts, can i just use the ones out of a cougar.

get the 68-70 frame mounts. the 67 shared frame mounts with the big blocks/convertible and it's expensive to get the original style engine mounts. pretty much what everyone sells are the non-67 rubber for all first-gen mustangs. used 68-70 mounts aren't real hard to come by.

a lot of guys recommend getting aftermarket adjustable mounts, and honestly they're not much more when you look at the total cost of getting new frame mounts plus engine mounts. and you get a bit of adjustability and header clearance as a bonus.
