Default Ignition or Carburetor

Hey, whats up guys. I have a bit of a dilemma here. I only have enough money to get either a new electronic ignition system, or I can get a new carburetor. Which of these should I get first? The winters coming soon, and i'm looking for reliabilty. Whenever its like 30*, my car takes forever just to get a good idle. What would you guys suggest is the most important upgrade out of the two for this situation?

Well, what carb and what ignition do you have now? Hate to say get a new carb if you have a nice one on it already

Yea, I was thinking about that carb. So you would suggest the carb first over the ignition? Thx by the way

Hey, what CFM would you guys suggest. My cars a daily driver, and I only race when I'm tempted. I'm thinking about the Holley Street Avenger.

If I were you, I'd just get a set of Pertronix for around 60/75 bucks, and you will see a big difference on starting and power. Do you have a 2bbl or 4??? Rebuild kits are about the same as the pertronix, I THINK, so you cou7ld do both for around the price of 1. Someone chime in if I am wrong.

If you have a clean set of points that are adjusted correctly, I would first go with a new or rebuilt carb. Look into the Motorcraft carbs. They are built well, and are very reliable.

How long do points last once they are replaced? I'm sure I have a 2bbl now.

If gapped correctly, they should last a year or more, even longer I guess. Usually you do the points, condenser, and plugs all at once, whenever you do your tune-up. Look down the carb, and if you only have 2 holes, it's a 2bbl, and 4 for a 4bbl.
