Default Carb dripping fuel

so i was working on adjusting the black **** that adjusts the carb "flap" i guess it would be called. reason i adjusted was because the flap would stay open no matter if the car was warmed up or not so now its closed when cold. then when i went to start it up i pressed the gas on accident and heard a squirting noise so i went to the engine and there was a small pool of fuel right under the fuel assembly on the carb (where fuel line goes in). Its a autolite 2100 I think the tag on the Carb said c7df r so I think that means its the 2100

what can i do to stop this?

edit: i guess its called a choke valve?

Also I need a good autolite 2100 rebuild kit any suggestions on where to buy from.

That is indeed the choke. As for the fuel leak, its hard to say why its leaking there. It could be loose. It could just need some sealant on it. It could have damaged threads from being crossthreaded etc. If you decide to put sealant on it use this.

yes, black canister is the choke housing and the 'flap' in the top of carb is the choke butterfly.

As for your leak, if it's an autolite 2100 and just where the fuel line goes to, I'm nearly certain its the fuel filter. I once had a broken one (they break at their solder line).. looks like that:

when i looked at it again today and pressed the pedal a couple time no fuel came out. could it be it came out because it sat for close to 3 weeks without running? also it seemed to come out of the piece next to where the fuel line went in (to the right of it).

* at tx65: i bought the permatex that you mentioned there was the black one and the normal one i bought black is there a difference?

edit: it seemed to be leaking from the part that moves when the pedal is pressed directly to the right of where the fuel goes into carb.

also if the car needs a little gas to start it up and keep it going till it warms up a little what idle screw should i adjust? i see there a couple different ones on the 2100 (fast idle cam, fast cold, and the hot engine idle) could you show a picture of where it would be located? thanks

I don't have a diagram for that. I bet 2+2GT does though.

The black you bought is not the type of sealant for fuel lines. Its either for weatherstriping or gaskets or its just silicone RTV. Its not the same thing.

Kalli has a good point, I have seen what he said happen a few times before.

The reason no fuel came out when you pressed the pedal, is because the car has not been running so the mechanical pump has not pumped any more fuel up to the carb.

Possibly leaking accelerator pump. I am sure you can find a diagram by googleing it or autozone used to have some basic maintenence info on their site. More than likely the choke is out of adjustment if it won't run cold.

seems i mustve messed up the fast idle by trying to line up the lines on the choke adjust. i fixed it today after two hours trying to decipher how it works, hey at least i know how it works now.

seems it was the accelerator pump also the part underneath it (the one thats held on by four screws, cant remember the name) replaced both of them no leakage at all, having a hard time finding a fuel filter though needs a new one.
