Anyone really spruce up their engine compartments with chrome firewalls, etc???
My 1965 Fastback has really become an obcession of mine and I have worked extremely hard to make it as perfect as can be as my goal is for it to be a very competitive show car. I showed it at a few shows this summer and did really well taking home a couple 2nd and 3rd place trophies as well as one trophy for best engine of the entire show. Now that winter is approaching and show season is over here in Nebraska I would like to continue to make improvements and add to my engine compartment. Everything is pretty much already chromed so I am limited on what else I can do. However I went to the Sturgis Mustang rally this year and saw a car with chromed shock towers, etc. and am thinking that would really add to my car. However I'm not sure the best way for one to go about doing this. I think the firewall part may not be too bad but with the bends of the shock towers this could be a nightmare so my question is.... Has anyone else done this? If so do you have pictures or advice?

I have been showing for about 15 years and have over 60 trophies. You get to a point where they mean nothing.I dont think all that chrome looks as good because you get to a certain point and it will blend together. I painted my engine bay the body color, smoothed the welds, hid all the wire harnesses, color cordinated the wires to the ignition system, replaced all bolts with stainless allen buttonhead.I would repaint the shock towers you have now, the paint doesnt look that smooth from the pictures
I think that much chrome is tacky. I like Iskewzm's suggestions.
The first thing I'd do, though, is get rid of that monster HEI distributor and garish bright red wires. A stock style distributor and some well-routed wires in a color that blends in a little better would clean things up.
