Default Shock tower reinforce kit

Hi,

Can someone please tell me what gauge the metal is for the shock tower reinforce kit? I want to attempt making my own and want to make sure I buy the right gauge. Thanks!

I will guess 16 or 18 gage, but just a guess.

IMO 16 ga would be plenty strong for reinforcement, and 18 ga is actually thin enough (and pretty damn strong) that it can be bent and worked with tools affordable to the hobbyist.

Not sure about the kit, but my shock tower is .080 or around 14 gauge. (I had to patch some holes someone torched out) I went back with 16 gauge and it came out fine. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys for your inputs. The reason why I asked is because I saw a post in the VMF website that 3/16 was the size and I thought that was pretty thick. I would assume 14 or 12 gauge should be good enough.

3/16"?

LOL, Damn, steel is so under rated, especially when a little structure is involved.

Back then the fittings we use now wasn't made.So they had to cut holes or remove the upper a arm to lube it.
