Default Carburator not getting gas?

All of a sudden the car turns over just fine but will not start. I took the air cleaner off and could not see any gas coming in. I am no mecanic by no means and could this be a bad filter and where is the filter on a 1965 with the 289 and 2V carburator? Everthing is stock on the engine and car. Thanks

could be a bad fuel pump....Trace the fuel line to the fuel pump (that way you know you are looking at the fuel line) Then remove the fuel line from the carb and place it in a glass jar...crank the engine over and see if any fuel is coming out.

just as Gun said,
you can check easily at carb.
with any carb just remove aircleaner open choke butterfly manually and accellerate. you should see fuel spraing in the carb. if not check what Gun said: remove fuel line at carb, into container. while cranking it should pump plenty of fuel

I'd check the filter first, it should be screwed in to the carburetor where the fuel line comes in. A brass colored thing about 1 1/2" long, I believe.

I already did remove the air cleaner and opened the choke and accellerate the rod but did not see any gas going into the carb so guess I will have to unhook at the fuel pump and try that and also the fuel filter as TexasAxMan said. Thanks all.

I would unhook at the carb there must be a soft line that connects to the carb from the fuel pump at some place.

When going through fuel issues I like to replace old rubber lines and verify clean fuel free flows from tank. If fuel has some specs I would install a large filter between pump and tank.

i can see 100% of the people disagreeing with me here but i could not get fuel into my carb so i disconnected the tube from the fuel inlet on the carb and SLOWLY sucked. YOU WILL get a little fuel in your mouth but it works better then pumping the carb and waiting 20 years. This also will only work with a mechanical fuel pump (i think)

I just did this today and have done it in the past. Fuel in your mouth is not that bad as long as you spit it out immediately and keep spitting. DO NOT SWALLOW if you take this advice.
