68 Restomod front end
... from those welds it looks like you are just doing flux core?
from my welding experience, its best to use TIG although MIG will work too.
you should really REALLY read up on chassis building. look at off road vehicles and how they build their cages, look at 12 pt cages and see how they are built.
also make sure your tubing is actually structural tubing and not just pipe.
that stuff looks like its all of 1/16" thick which is way to small/thing walled for a front end structure of a car.
edit:
also, although you welded your tubing to a plate at the firewall, you didnt really do it correctly.
the tubing should be about in the center of the plate so that if there is a front impact the force will be spread on the plate.
all of your welding is on the corners of the plate so the plate will just bend rather then absorb the impact & disperse the force on the firewall.
edit 2
here i actually found pictures of a 68 with a custom front chassis (simple google search of 'custom mustang front chassis')

notice the difference between yours & theirs?

Well for one thing, "those" were done with the aid of proper tools like a pipe bender. This makes it alot easier to build a rigid front end with crumple zones for front impact.
I do agree some members jumped on this poor guy WAY too early, WAY too hard and for some really stupid reasons IE: Spelling??? Whoo Kares?
I'm all for the average Joe figuring out his own designs. That's where cool new ideas come from after all. Trial and error. Give the guy a break and some credit for having the nuts to try something out of the box.
I think the stock you have there should be fine for strength assuming the structure is correct. You can create immense strength from good design independent of stock size. Just look at metal bridges. Very thin metal in very effective shapes. The point made on the plates is dead on. An off center mount will break the plate through whatever its mounted to and defeat the purpose. From the picts its tough to see the weight distribution and gauge the angles so I wont confidently comment on the overall integrity.
On a sidenote, driving a car with open fenderwells is a PITA to keep clean, I know because I have a bagged pickup with a similar setup and wish I didn't leave it open. Sand and dirt gets everywhere even though I never drive it in bad weather.

Do you think it's possible you're over stepping your boundaries a little? How long have you been a member here? 30 days or less? I've been here since what? 05? I did notice you managed to find the new member welcome area, did you happen to notice that William didn't? How about you stop worrying about me and start putting the fault where it belongs. The new guy that failed to follow the rules and properly introduce himself. Better yet, how about you just worry about yourself and keep the negative comments in check toward other members period. Now, What where you saying?
i never knew it was a rule that you had to post in the welcome thread before anywhere else. granted i did post somewhere introducing myself and posting pictures.
plus when i was on here day after day looking at things & getting opinions & help i never saw you posting then.
which your post count shows you are never really around. 245 posts in 5 years? a whole 4 posts a month, 1 per week and you have a few in this thread alone ripping this guy a new one for no reason other then he said 'imput'
get over yourself, i have yet to see any posts from you that are the least bit helpful.
edit:
yep just as i thought. you hadnt been active since sept 2007 and just came back a month ago and started posting again. and your 1st post back was about your '07 GT

Nice setups you guys posted and great ideas! Imagine a guy that's welded in a new cross member and already installed frame ties not thinking the same way. Instead, he's trying to design a front end that will crumple in a head on accident!
Sure sounds like a potential troll to me, but maybe I'm the one that needs to be banned for questioning a guys motives who's intent might be to make fools of you guys!
