Why bother? Go with an Ipod dock.

Ipods are the way to go but I do like the idea of having a simple CD player tucked away in the glove box.

Digital, in whatever format, is the way of the new millennium. You'd have to fill the trunk with CDs to get the selection that one memory stick smaller than a piece of gum can provide. And that trunk full of CDs can easily be converted and loaded into a player or memory stick that will play through your system. You end up with all the music but without the bulk and moving parts.

The key is the head unit and what it will support. A good one of those is what should be stuck in the glove compartment if your dash isn't cut.

I am starting to think about this myself, my dash is cut and I have the repair piece and soon the floor will be out. I could repair the dash much easier while sitting on the floor. But I kinda like having a DIN in the dash...

My dash was cut too, so the decision to cut again to DIN specs was an easy one. I installed a Pioneer HU with a front USB port and couldn't be happier. The unit controls and charges the Ipod, and the Ipod fits nice in the ashtray.

In my opinion, unless you're really after originality it's really no big deal to have a cut dash. It's a mass produced car, not the Mona Lisa.

I have a DIN in the dash since it was already hacked up.

I really to like the retro stereo that looks factory.

I do not care for the radio in the glove box. I don't want to have to reach over there to access it and do not like the idea of a remote. Besides, you can't read the display on it when its in there.

I think that Scootchu has his mounted under the dash. That looks nice too.

When I installed the DIN in the dash, I used a 1/4 inch trim surround on it. That made it look alot better. This is the best picture I have to post.
