Default WAAHOOOO

After 3 years i finally made the t-5 swap. The adaper plate was MUCH easier that i thought it as going to be. Fired up the car an spun through all the gears (on stands), FLAWLESS!
Button up a few things tomorrow and take her for a spin...

Question... The T5 Manual states to use ATF! Is this correct or should i use gear oil?

yes

Use atf...I think dex III or merc V...you'll want to double check and this assumes that its an 83 to 93 t5 (which I think all use atf) I hear some older t5s used gear oil...

I think most of the above is mostly correct

world class t5s use ATF if you use gear oil you will urn up the needle bearings in the the tranny with a quickness

most people use synthetic synchromesh from GM....

Fun fun fun. One of my best upgrades for my car was putting in a 5 speed right behind the coil over suspension.

Going 80mph on I-95 at 4k rpms vs going 80mph on I-95 at 2.5k rpms......

I agree, not that most of us care but getting decent hwy gas mileage is another nice benefit from the swap.
