Default How low can you go?

I am just starting the restoration of a 69 Mach I for a customer. He wants it as low as possible. I see that Fatman makes a 2.5 dropped spindle and I have seen 1" lowering springs. Has anyone used these together? Can this car go this low. A static drop is what he wants, I told him about the shockwave set up but that is too far out of budget. I have installed the CSRP disk brake set up on a 66 before and that kit went on fairly easily. The fatman spindles will use this disk brake set up as well. What do you think? Anyone have any input. I am most familiar with Chevys, but dont hold that against me. Thanks

you can buy the shockwaves type the front for about $499, not sure how much he is willing to spend, but for that price he will get the adjustability and good ride. You will have to make your own mounts, so that depends on your skills at fabricating. The rears, same thing, weld a crossbar and use the stock lower mounts for air springs.

He is also probably going to want to go with a short tube header. I think if he has long tubes they will drag on just about every speed bump out there.

You can't drop the car all that much before frame rail clearance starts to become an issue. You'll end up with a car that can't go over speed bumps or up driveways. Plus, you'll need stiff springs to help prevent bottoming out.

Pretty much about where mine is now. I hit speed bumps, but its my exhaust. I also can't go down many car ramps for underground garages with scraping it up pretty bad.

Regardless of how the lowering is accomplished, the car should still have enough static ride height to tolerate any two tires being flat. Short-sidewall tires would let you go lower, but not without bringing their own downsides.

A tennis ball goes "thoop" when rolled under my headers, so traversing speed bumps isn't an option. I haven't gotten trapped. Yet.
This just makes driving anywhere but on the highway a real adventure.

A fun fact-
Speed bumps are illegal in some European countries because they slow up emergency vehicles and damage sports cars.
