Converting the front to disc and leaving the back as drums, I've heard, is fine.

Ok so I've looked the discbrakeswap brakes and I like the price and you guys seem to like them. Next possibly silly question. Are these only front, or can I get two sets and put one set on the back? My gut is telling me 'No', but I thought I'd ask anyway.

It seems like it would be silly to leave drums on the back as it costs a few hundred just to get those back up to a good working level anyway.

No, rear conversions are completely different.

It shouldn't cost you much at all to get the rear drums redone, unless you're paying someone else to do it. Drums can usually be reused. Many shops/parts stores will turn them if they're gouged. Shoes and hardware kits are cheap. Switching to discs on the rear is overkill for most cars anyway.

So I get the feeling my brakes are manual. I've got a pic here for confirmation, but I'm not seeing a booster. Pic is in my album if it doesn't show up here.

Most important reason, cross drilled slotted rotors just look cool

Weekend to semi-daily driver. Haven't fully decided yet. Want to keep it original but giving serious thought to some upgrades. PO cut out dash for aftermarket radio, considering just moving with it and putting a good sound system in. I used to do that years ago. I defiantly want to keep the 200 in place. Considering some mods for that to get a few more horseys out of it.

So now that I've rambled, why do you ask? Ideas from your side?

Lets try this a different way.

So, am I correct, manual brakes?

Yup, manual brakes with a mason jar master cylinder.

Ok, new questions for same topic. I keep researching (which might be my problem) and I keep finding posts saying you have to go to a 15 inch wheel if you go to disc brakes. So:

1: Do you have to move to a 15 inch wheel? (would prefer not to, trying to keep mostly original even though it will be a restomod by the time I'm done)

2: If I did go to a 15 inch wheel would I have to do a 5 lug conversion?

3: If I did go to a 15 inch wheel what impact does that have on the speedo?
