I am looking to get just the 3" piping that goes over the rear axle. Apparently magnaflow doesn't sell parts from their systems. I don't want to buy the whole system just for that piping. Local muffler shops don't have mandrel bending. Any help would be appreciated to where I can just get that part.

most shops without a mandrel machine will weld them up from different bends.Thats how mine was done.

 

Why do you want 3" tailpipes. Things get real tight underneath the 65-66 Mustangs. You will have plenty going with the 2.5" tailpipes. I went with the Dr Gas tailpipes from Mustangs Plus about 10 years ago now and they still look as good as the day I installed them.

That's exactly how I've built all the systems and partial systems for my own cars and those for my kids' cars.


I also wonder why 3". Unless for some reason you're trying to run a big single exhaust line like the 3rd Gen F-bodies did.

Yeah, there's no need for 3" unless you have a 500+ hp engine.

 

Back pressure is your torque 2.5 is more then enough for duals.

 

Exhaust back pressure is bad, in any setup. It's a term that guys came up with decades ago because they didn't understand what was actually going on with exhaust gas velocity. Too large of an exhaust actually increases back pressure by causing the exhaust gasses to drop in temperature and slow down instead of flowing quickly out the tail pipe. Too small creates back pressure by being a flow restriction.

Larger does not necessarily mean more flow.

 

Check with someone that sell Mac exhaust.
I have 3" Mac on my 93 Mustang & really like um.

 

I don't see the point of 3 inch duals either.

If the pipe is too big it won't scavenge well at all.

 

no room for 3" under there or you are really hard pressed. same opinion here. I run 2.25" and 2.5" is plenty
