Do you have a load leveler for it?I never use a carb plate just a load leveler and the 4 most outer intake bolts for the 4 chains.

no leveler. the tranny will be taken off before and maybe most of the front end if that would make things easier. the car is getting parted anyway so everything's coming out and off. i just want to take the motor out without any damage done to it.

Just use a good quality chain and bolt it diagonally across the motor using the bolt holes in the front and back of the cylinder heads..Since you aren't lifting the tranny out the motor can come pretty much straight up and out....

NOT a good setup. Without being attached at a high point, this setup can allow the engine to roll out of the loop. The one pictured is decent, but the overall concept is dangerous when supporting the weight from the bottom.

I agree, especially cause that's a mid-sump pan, the 351w front sump will not work with that.

I've lifted multiple engines just using the carburetor studs and washers. Not the best route but it works for me.

Obviously don't use crappy washers, haha

Three feet or so should do it..Make sure it has links big enough to get the bolts through and its a "good" chain that can support the wieght..

if you use the belts as in picture above I had good results when brining them through the header/manifold so it can't slip. Other than that I really like intake plate with leveler or as andrew says intake bolts
