Default The '65 Build Thread

Ha, not the type of thread you were counting on! This is my latest craigslist score that I am restoring for my little 2 year old girl. This is an actual pedal car they sold between 65-72 not a reproduction. The previous owner owned it since he was 4 years old and was sitting in his parents basement for years until he was motivated to sell it after watching American Pickers and thought he could make some money. He's owned it since new. I purchased new rims/tires, decals, shifter and windshield which should all be arriving soon. At this point I have to complete the front and rear end, underneath, and frame pedal assembly. It's been a fun little project so far. At first I was torn with if I wanted to make it look the original red that it came, but now I figured I'll make it look identical to my real '65 stang and park it next to my ride at the car shows! I'll have to chain it up to a tire so it doesn't go for an unexpected walk! Enjoy

Make it look like yours, my parents have 2 of them that their grand children play in, kids love them and i bet your little girl would love to have the same car as her daddy. We have 2 one that was painted yellow with white by some famous painter up here and a dark green one to match my parents 65 that my dad restored.

Well, here she is a couple weeks later. Been busy grinding and sanding rust off as well as stripping paint. Just got finished assembling it back together today and had to build a couple aluminum brackets up front which I will paint soon too. New bolts, wheels (new windshield not shown) is helping it look a lot better. Time to talk to the painter soon who painted my car so that I can get a perfect color match.

Well, it's been forever, no special update, but I finally had my paint and body guy take the car from my house today to paint this bad boy red. He also picked up my '37 Neptune Gas Pump. He'll be painting both items and goign with the Dino/Sinclair theme on my gas pump. It will take a long time for both items, 3 months, but that's cause he's charging me an awesome price and he will work on both of them during breaks etc. Looking forward to show some final pics
