Default holley hesitation

i installed a 351w in my 66 coupe with the help of my friend and his dad. we kind of put it together quickly because my car was tying up his shop, so there wasnt much time for fine tuning.

the carbreautor is a holley 670 street avenger manual choke, edelbrock rpm air gap intake, it has a performance distributors hei style distributor and ignition, the motor has a mild cam and valve springs (i lost the specs), heddman headers and dual exhaust with dynomax ultraflo bullets, it also has a c4 auto trans with a shift kit, not sure of the torque converter

the problem im having is it will bog and slowly catch up til about 3500 rpm and then take off, its like it has not bottom end power, and if i lay the hammer down from a dead stop it will be on the verge of dying then take off, it didnt have this problem two weeks ago, but that was before it started raining, could the humidity have something to do with it? could someone shed some light on tuning holley carbs? im more familure with edelbrock carbs, i can adjust the air fuel ratio but im unsure about the accelerator pump, how do i know when i have to much or to little? the nut on the accelerator pump is only turned in a few threads, what do you guys think?

With the engine off, take the air cleaner off, Look down into the carb, and move the throttle linkage, The accelerator pump should put in about 2 table spoons of gas each time you work the linkage, A Bog is most always the accelerator pump not working or not working well enough.

now when i move the throttle linkage should i go to the floor when i move it to see of 2 table spoons come out? if i adjust the accelerator pump do i have to adjust the air/fuel ratio as well?

well i put the throttle all the way down twice and each time it seemed like 2 table spoons came out each time and nice constant streams, so what now? start messing with the accelerator pump?

Where's your initial timing? Might have to bump it up a bit.

I woyld also say bump the timing to at least 10.5* and withe the accel. Pump you want it adjusted so that there is only about a fingernail worth of play and when you just bump the throttle it squirts. If it is tightened too much its already in the travel when you hit the gas too little and it will bog before it gets enough juice. When the linkage moves it should start squirting. Make sure your idle is good and even on both sides too. By chance did you switch gas stations or put in a different brand? When i got to hawaii the change in fuel made me tune everything again.

Something with the ethanol content. My car didnt like it at all. But once i tuned the carb it was happy again.

well heres the thing about the timing, i threw the gun on it just to see where it was at, so i disconnected the vaccum line at the distributor and the idle did not change at all which i thought was strange. plugged the line and turned the idle up to 800 rpm and threw the light on it and i could not even see any of the timing marks, are the timing marks supposed to show up on the drivers side of the engine? thats where the timing pointer is. on my 83 f250's 460 the marks show up on the passenger side of the engine.

is there some other procedure i should follow?
