Brake Lights Issue
ok so here's the original problem:
Hey guys, its been a while since i've been active on the site. I have to revisit because i need some opinions on how to fix my brake lights. (I finally go my license yesterday and i was going to drive to school today however something is wrong with the brake lights.) My dad and i have been practicing driving(its a 3 speed manual) and during our practice drives we are pretty sure that the brake lights were working. However now they're not. My dad thought looking at the fuse box might solve the problem. And yea a couple of fuses were missing but not the ones that affect the brakes. When we bought the car, the guy we bought it from metioned some electrical work had been done but we didnt think to check it over too much. Now we think that who ever did the electerical work did a shoty job. And we're not sure what to do. We already changed the bulbs so we know thats not the problem. Also my blinkers and lights work. So its just the brake lights that are the problem.
And here's the original solution:
As many of you guys know i had some issues with my brake lights and it turns out that the brake switch and the spring kept touching everytime i hit the brakes. This caused it to brake the circuit. So to keep the two from hitting i just wrapped the spring in electrical tape and the problem is solved.
(BTW the spring was used to help the brake pedal some back up. i tried taking it off but the pedal just stayed down.)
And now the new problem:
At first the brake pedal started not comming back up when i parked. ie. when i pressed the brake pedal when i was driving it would come back up, but when i parked the pedal stayed down. So of course the brake lights stayed on. Then even when i pulled the brake pedal bake up the brakes stayed on. Even when i'm driving they stayed on no matter what. Then after about 15 mins the fuse burns out. At first my dad and i thought it was the turn signal switch that needed to be replaced because we just bought a new brake switch a few months back. We went to Mustang Country to buy a new one and the guy said that it probably is the brake switch. My dad and i havent had a chance to get out there and test the brake switch yet but i just wanted to see what some of you guys opinions were.
Thanks for the help in advance.
